Moveulator, Cubeulator,
& Intralator Help

WHAT IS THE MOVEULATOR AND THE INTRALATOR? They are relational databases with
Web browser interfaces that run on an Mover4u.com server.
HOW IS THE MOVEULATOR DIFFERENT FROM OTHER MOVING ESTIMATE PAGES? At other mover's sites you e-mail your request for
an estimate. The response can take many days to receive back.
Since The Moveulator and The Intralator are always on-line, you
don't have to wait -- you get your estimate immediately!
WHY IS CORRECT MILEAGE SO IMPORTANT? Most mover's interstate (and some
intra -- within -- State) "linehaul" transportation
charges are mileage based. Most mover's use Rand McNalley's "MileMaker"
program to compute their mileage. Unfortunately, Rand McNalley
has a virtual monopoly on this service, and it is very expensive
to license. In it's place, we send you to MapQuest. There will be a variance between
the (correct) Rand McNally "MileMaker" mileage and
the MapQuest miles, but the difference should be small.
WHAT INFORMATION DO I ENTER WHEN I
GO TO TRIPQUEST TO GET MY MILEAGE? Enter the name of the city (or town) and the name
of the State that you are moving from and enter the name of the
city (or town) and the name of the State you are moving to.
HOW ACCURATE IS THE MOVEULATOR AND
THE INTRALATOR? As
accurate as your estimated shipment weight and your estimated
shipment miles are. For the time being, we are using the industry
standard of "1 room of furniture = 1,000 pounds" to
estimate weight. Future versions of The Moveulator and The Intralator
will include "The Cubeulator", a highly accurate method
of determining your estimated shipment weight.
WHAT DOES "NUMBER OF ROOMS"
MEAN? In order
to provide you with an estimate the mover needs to quantify the
size of your move (in cubic feet) and the weight of your move
(in pounds). For the time being, we are using the industry standard
of "1 room of furniture = 1,000 pounds" to estimate
weight. Do your best to equate your move to a number of rooms
of furniture (include your basement and your garage if they have
a significant amount of items in them to be moved). Future versions
of The Moveulator and The Intralator will include "The Cubeulator",
a highly accurate method of determining your estimated shipment
weight.
WHAT IS "TARIFF 400-M"? Most of the major moving companies
use the same rate book to calculate moving cost; its called
Tariff 400-M which is published by the Household
Goods Carriers Bureau. You will see Tariff 400-M
listed as being used on each of the estimates you receive from
the majors. Tariff 400-M contains the charges for transportation,
packing, storage, etc... These charges are essentially the same
for all of the major moving companies (if each has the same weight
and mileage estimate). This being true, if you were to clone
your move and ship your goods with each of the major movers you
would find that, while you may have had four vastly different
estimates, in the end each mover was just about the same cost
(provided that each mover is giving the same level of discount).

WHAT ARE "SERVICE AREAS"? Interstate moves (moves between different
states) have accessorial charges (generally paid 100% to the
mover's driver) to account for the varying cost of expenses (labor,
fuel, taxes, etc...) in different regions of the United States.
To account for this, mover's have developed "Service Areas"
which have different costs for like services in different areas
of the United States. Choose a Service Area at both origin and
destination that is closest to where you are moving from and
moving to.
WHAT IS "CARRIER'S LIABILITY
FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE"? Commonly (but incorrectly) referred to as "insurance",
Carrier's Liability For Loss or Damage is the amount of liability
that you want the moving company to assume for loss or damage
to your shipment while it is in the mover's care and custody.

vs. Valuation - It Pays To Know The Difference" for

WHY ARE THERE HANDLING CHARGES FOR
CARS & PIANOS? Items
such as cars, boats, snowmobiles and campers usually carry a
bulky article charge to compensate the carrier for the difficulty
of loading and unloading such articles, and their unusual bulk
or low weight density. In some cases (such as boats and trailers),
an additional "weight additive" is applicable.
WHEN ARE SPECIAL SERVICES LIKE ELEVATORS
& STAIR CARRIES APPLICABLE?
- Elevator Carry: A charge to compensate the carrier for the additional
labor required to move a shipment by way of an elevator. Applicable
only if your shipment needs to be moved by means of
an elevator at either the point of origin or the point of destination.
- Flight Carry (Stair Carry): A charge to compensate the carrier for the additional
labor and time required to move a shipment up or down flights
of stairs which leadsto or from an origin or destination residence.
Generally applicable only if your shipment is
being moved into or out of a dwelling located entirely above
or below ground level. Don't worry about stairs inside a private
residence -- stair carry charges generally do not apply in the
cases.
- Extra Stop (Extra Pickup or Delivery): If mover's driver is required to make an extra stop
at either origin or destination (other than the primary pickup
or delivery points) an extra charge is assessed - the charge
is determined by the tariff. Applicable only
if you want the mover to make a 2nd pickup at origin or a 2nd
delivery at destination.
WHAT IS THIS "SPECIAL DISCOUNT"
FOR INTERSTATE MOVES ANYWAY? Actually, it's not so special. It is the standard
interstate discount that all of the major movers are giving for
interstate moving. Please note that some areas, circumstances,
or times of the year support higher discounts, while some areas,
circumstances, or times of the year support lower discounting.
If you decide that you want to move with World Moving we will send
a representative to visit with you, visually inspect the items
that you intend to move, and talk about discounts. In certain
instances, we may be able to do better. In others circumstances
your discount may be lower.
